FAQ

How long will we be closed?

Salvos Store will open again once it is safe to do so. We will keep you updated and will let you know well in advance once we are able to commence trade.

What is the process required before full closure and lockup?

If we close our stores for an extended period, you need to follow the Store Closure Guide at the direction of your Area Manager. Make sure you’ve got the latest version by accessing it here.

What do I do with money that is currently onsite?

Please ensure that all money (register and petty cash) is banked by no later than Friday 3 April.

Should we still be accepting donations?

It is at each stores discretion as to whether they continue to accept donations. However, please consider your stores capacity to be able to quarantine and store these donations for an extended period.

Please also ensure you are  maintaining social distancing and good hygiene practices.

Can we process sales for team members who are still in stores?

We can process sales for our team until the COB Thursday 2nd April, after this date we will not be able to process any team members sales.

Will we be pivoting to offer eBay or Gumtree sales through more stores?

We are currently working with our digital partners to enable more capability within our current online listing tools. We will keep you informed on the progress of this project.

Is the eBay store still accepting items for listing?

We currently have sufficient stock and are not accepting additional items at this point of time. We will update you if/when more stock is required.

How will we support customers that are issued with welfare vouchers during this time?

We are currently working through a new process for customers that hold a welfare voucher and will update you shortly.

Will we honour our exchange policy?

If a customer makes enquiries about exchanges, you can let them know we will honour our existing exchange and return policies after we reopen.

Will we still be receiving Personal Protective Equipment?

Yes, we’re still actively sourcing PPE. We’ll supply this as and when it arrives and keep you updated.

What do I need to provide to prove I am out of my home to attend work?

With police in many states enforcing stay at home rules, you may need a letter to prove that you have a valid reason to leave your home. Your line manager will share Authorisation Letters with you on request.

Despite our signage, we are still experiencing dumping at our site. What support is available?

If you have experienced after-hours donations/dumping, please contact your Line Manager for logistics support.

We already have a large number of donations at our site. Can we send these to the warehouse?

We recommend all stores try to process as many existing donations as possible while we are closed. This will put us in the best position to reopen quickly once we resume trade in the future. If you have pre-sorted stock that is in excess of your stores needs or a WHS issue related to stock, please contact your Line Manager for logistics support

What’s happening with Statewide rag pickups?

Statewide will be moving to a booked pickup service. We’ll provide further information on this over the next 24 hours.

Will we continue to support team members on a return to work plan? Or that are due to return to work via a return to work plan?

Yes, we are continuing work through RTW cases and will consult on a local level.

Some volunteers are keen to stay working, can they?

If your volunteers still wish to engage with your stores, they are welcome to do so. This only applies if they enquire or present to your store voluntarily and are not in one of the groups who are at an increased risk of complications from COVID-19. Please do not call them directly.

Please also ensure social distancing guidelines are maintained and adhered to for all team members in your store.

What if I don’t feel comfortable attending work?

We fully understand that you may not feel comfortable to attend, and if this is the case please discuss directly with your line manager.
